How hard is it to implement Amazon DSP and AMC?

AMC and DSP are technically complex, but mastering them gives brands a major competitive advantage since few sellers use them.

AMC and DSP are complex platforms.

  • Amazon Marketing Cloud (AMC): Requires comfort with data and SQL. It isn’t plug-and-play like Sponsored Products; you need to query datasets, analyze customer paths, and design custom audiences. This means many smaller teams struggle without external expertise.
  • Amazon DSP: Runs on programmatic principles. You’re no longer bidding on keywords—you’re buying audiences and impressions across Amazon’s ecosystem. This involves learning frequency caps, retargeting logic, and creative testing.

Barrier = Opportunity: Because it’s harder, far fewer competitors invest in AMC and DSP compared to Sponsored Ads. That makes early adopters stand out. The brands who push past the learning curve often gain cheaper reach and smarter audience targeting that competitors can’t replicate.
