Shopify DTC for Amazon Sellers course

[LESSON 2] How to set up Shopify for Amazon Sellers?

Setting up Shopify

Many Amazon sellers already use Shopify. They chose it because of the size of the ecosystem and its maturity. In this lesson, we’ll go through the setup and additional useful details you’ll need to understand the whole process

If you’re moving from Amazon to your own Shopify store, Shopify makes setup simple. It’s the world’s most popular ecommerce platform for a reason: it’s beginner-friendly, secure, scalable, and comes with an ecosystem of apps and integrations to cover almost any need.

Why Shopify works for Amazon sellers

  • User-friendly: No coding required for most tasks.

  • Built-in scalability & security: Hosting, updates, and speed handled by Shopify.

  • Ecosystem of apps: One-click integrations for Amazon, Google Analytics, Ads, and 3PLs.

  • Flexible tiers: From Shopify Basic for starters to Shopify Plus for high-growth brands over $3M in sales.

Shopify themes explained

Your theme controls the look and feel of your store, the part visitors see.

  • Free themes (like Dawn) are great for lean launches, but more limited in features.

  • Paid themes ($100-$400 one-time fee) give you advanced layouts, mega menus, quick-buy, and built-in extras.

  • Custom themes are for unique use cases, but most sellers don’t need them.

Tip: Start with a free theme and upgrade later, or go paid right away if you want a premium feel from day one.

Pages your store needs

Unlike Amazon, trust doesn’t come built-in. You need to create it. Make sure your Shopify store includes:

  • Homepage: A strong hero section with your brand story and product highlights.

  • About Us: Share who you are and what makes you different.

  • Contact Page: Make it easy for customers to reach you.

  • Shipping & Returns: Clear policies build trust and reduce complaints.

  • FAQ: Answer common customer questions upfront.

  • Privacy Policy & Terms of Service: Legal must-haves. Shopify generates templates, but you’re ultimately responsible.

The bottom line

Shopify gives Amazon sellers the tools to create a store that builds trust, captures customer data, and grows into a real brand, and not just a product listing.
